Follow the roadshow

Raising awareness about biosecurity at EU borders and at farm-level was one of the main goals of the first European Veterinary Week (EVW), which took place during the week of 10-16 November 2008.

Through this week, the European Commission aspired to raise awareness about biosecurity measures at farm-level and at borders. At borders, the aim was to remind travellers entering or exiting the European Union of the animal health risks involved when bringing in pets or animal products, such as cheese or meat from certain countries outside of the European Union. The intention was that travellers would be reminded of the rules at EU points of entry (airports, ports and border crossings) in a variety of ways.

This information campaign will expand beyond the boundaries of the week and into the next year through a Roadshow. The "One Health" Roadshow started on Monday 10 November in Brussels and it will continue during 2009. During this period of time, the customised vehicle will be visiting agricultural and tourism fairs around the EU and distributing information to the public. Since its launch, the vehicle has already attended a number of important events in several Member States.
