(van) - General Session of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE): Paris
From 26th to 29th of May 2009, the General Session of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) took place in Paris, France. The European Commission and OIE are working together to achieve "One Health" at global level.
At the general session of the OIE the EU spoke with one voice, thanks to an efficient coordination throughout the year between the Commission and the Member States. To mark the General Session, the Commission's "One Health" roadshow was present in Paris on the Boulevard des Invalides on May 26 and 27. EU veterinarians, including representatives from the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE), were on hand to explain to the general public biosecurity measures and the concept of "One Health" or, in other words, how animal health is linked to human health.
