EVENTS ORGANIZED BY STATE FOOD AND VETERINARY SERVICE
IN LITHUANIA
10–16 November: State Food and Veterinary Service, as all the EU Member States is organising the first European Veterinary Week. The main task of the week is to improve and to implement in a uniform way, a traveller- addressed public campaign through the involvement of air companies which hold flights to third countries and to stimulate collaboration the control authorities, i.e. customs and veterinary services.
10 November, 10 a.m.: At Vilnius airport an event on the occasion of the European Veterinary Week will be held, at which representatives of SFVS and Customs Department will be present.
11 November, 12 a.m.: on the occasion of the European Veterinary Week the Ukmergė District SFVS is holding a seminar for the heads of milk collecting points, with the presentation "One health: healthy animals=healthy people“. The issues of milk quality will be discussed.
10 November: Jonava District SFVS is holding meeting with students of "Santarvė“ secondary school, at which the activities of the service will be presented, a discussion will be held on care of animals and other current topics.
10–14 November: Ukmergė District SFVS is holding meetings with the farmers, and animal keepers of the district, during which the concept "Prevention is better than cure" and other topical veterinary issues will be discussed.
10 November: Skuodas District SFVS is holding a meeting with the pupils of the Gėsalai primary school, at which they will explain about keeping, transport, treatment and preventive measures for animals.
10 November, 11 a.m.: Pakruojo District SFVS is holding an event "Animals and people = one health“, to mark the European Veterinary Week.
10–16 November: Kaunas County SFVS is holdingo a meeting with the students of the district schools, at which the students will be familiarised with the requirements for keeping and transportation, etc. of pets.
10–14 November: Vilnius City SFVS will put up an exhibition of children's drawings "Animals in our life".
10 and 12 November: Šilutė District SFVS is holding meetings with farmers in two municipalities, during which current issues of prevention of infectious diseases, animal identification, welfare, care and transport of farm animals and pets will be discussed, aw well as veterinary requirements for dairy farms, the causes for presence of inhibitors in milk, prevention measures thereof, etc.
10 November: Raseiniai District SFVS is organising a seminar for the students of Žemaičio gymnasium on the keeping, care and transport of pets at Milda Mikelkevičienė's shop „ZOOGAMA“.
10 November, 11 a.m.: In Saločiai municipality hall of Pasvalys district, 1 p.m. Namišiai municipality hall and 12 November, at 10 a.m. Pumpėnai municipality hall and 12 a.m. - Joniškėlis municipality hall, the Pasvalys District SFVS is holding, jointly with the Agricultural Department of Pasvalys District , meetings with animal keepers, at which control of diseases, veterinary service, requirements for milk quality, sanitary issues, compensations for the animals sold, animal identification and registration problems, requirements for animal welfare and transport will be discussed.
10 November: Rokiškis District SFVS is holding a meeting with staff of agricultural company ŽŪB Audrupio poultry farm, at which a presentation will be made "Importance of welfare and vaccination of laying hens in preventing emergence of contagious diseases".
11 November, 10 a.m.: Telšiai County SFVS is holding a seminar (at Paežerė village) for animal keepers of the Telšiai district "Importance of free from disease herd status on the common European market“.
11 November, 1 p.m.: Molėtai District SFVS is holding a meeting for specialists of territorial SFVS on effectiveness of veterinary control.
11 November 11 a.m.: Vilnius County SFVS is organising (in Elektrėnai municipality hall) a meeting with the workers of the municipality, education establishments and with the farmers during whish a presentation will be made "One health: healthy animals=healthy people“.
11 November, 10 a.m.: Šiauliai County SFVS is organising an open door day to the public at the Šiauliai division of the National Food and Veterinary Risk Assessment Institute.
11 November, 11 a.m.: Šiauliai County SFVS is organising a discussion on the influence of animal health on human health, also, an excursion is organised to to animal- and non-animal food processing establishments.
11 November, 12 a.m.: Trakai District senior veterinarian Kęstutis Muknickas is giving a presentation in Onuškis secondary school "Keeping and care of small animals".
11 November, 12 a.m.: Vilnius County SFVS is organising a meeting with the pupils of Kalveliai 2nd secondary school and is making a presentation "Our pets".
11 November Chief of Kretinga District SFVS will organize a veterinary event to mark the European Veterinary Week at the municipality of Kretinga district.
11 November Panevėžys County SFVS is organising a meeting with the students and teachers of Panevėžys Nature School and giving lectures on keeping of animals and on animal diseases.
11 November Utena County SFVS is organising a meeting with the students of Visaginas „Gerosios vilties” secondary school on the topic "Why do unreasonable decisions have adverse effects", "How to select a pup or a kitten".
11 November Utena County SFVS is holding a discussion "Animals beside me" with the pupils of Utena Aukštakalnio basic school.
11 November Klaipėda County SFVS is organising an excursion for Gargždai town pupils to a veterinary clinic and a zoo shop on the topic "Importance of treatment and care of pets for their welfare".
11 November Klaipėda County SFVS is organising a meeting with Klaipėda district farmers on the topic "Prevention of diseases is better than cure".
11 November Senior veterinarian Laimutė Dainauskienė from Kaišiadorys District SFVS is holding an event at Kaišiadorys adult school to mark the European Veterinary Week. At the event the students will be introduced to tasks and functions of SFVS, a discussion will be held on the positive effect of strict animal welfare requirements on human health and welfare of consumers.
11 November, 2 p.m.: At private veterinarian Jurgis Klimas' enterprise in Kaišiadorys district Paparčiai settlement, a meeting-discussion will be held on current problems of veterinarian's and farmers' work and on prospects for the future. At the meeting, the director of the municipality council, private vets and representatives of the District SFVS will be present.
11 November In the hall of Prienai „Žiburio“ gymnasium a meeting of Prienai District SFVS with the pupils will be arranged at which the pupils will be told about SFVS activities and requirements for keeping pets.
11-14 November Druskininkai City SFVS is organising events to mark the European Veterinary Week: meetings with students at the schools of the district on the topic "Animals and people = one health“, at the BIP of Raigardas the travellers will be handed information leaflets on the requirements for imports of food and of pets.
12 November Rokiškis District SFVS is holding a meeting with animal keepers at which the issues of animal identification and registration will be discussed.
12 November Kretinga District SFVS is holding a meeting to mark the European Veterinary Week with senior students of Baubliai school.
12 November Zarasai District SFVS is holding a meeting with the residents of Antazavė children care home on the issues of animal welfare.
12 November Panevėžys County SFVS is organising an excursion for Panevėžys Nature School to the veterinary clinic of K. Paltarokas.
12 November Kėdainiai District SFVS is holding a meeting with the pupils of Krakiai gymnasium to inform the students on the requirements for keeping pets, on transport of pets, etc.
12 November, 10 a.m.: Šiauliai County SFVS is organizing a meeting with the pupils of Šiauliai Central primary school on health and welfare of animals. Also, an excursion is organized to private veterinarian's R. Rimgailos clinic.
12 November, 10 a.m.: Telšiai County SFVS is holding an open door event in Paežerės village, with a discussion "Safe food chain", at which 9–10th form students of Viešvienai basic school will take part.
12 November, 10 a.m.: Ukmergė District SFVS is holding a seminar for the specialists of public catering establishments to mark the European Veterinary Week. Presentation: "One health: healthy animals=healthy people - prevention of food-borne diseases and implementation of own-control in catering establishments" will be made.
12 November Ukmergė District SFVS is holding a seminar for dairy farmers to mark the European Veterinary Week with a presentation "One health: healthy animals=healthy people“. The issues of milk quality will be discussed.
12 November, 11 a.m.: Varėna District SFVS is holding a meeting to mark the European Veterinary Week at which the representatives of Varėna District municipality, the Police Department, the Anti-Fire Department, the Agricultural Department and some businesses of the district will take part. The event will be held in the municipality hall at Vytauto str. 12, Varėna.
12 November, I p.m. Vilnius County SFVS is giving a lecture at Riešė secondary school on the topic "Our pets".
12 November, 3 p.m. Zarasai District SFVS is holding an event at Antazavė children care home to mark the European Veterinary Week.
12 November, 330 p.m. Šilutė District SFVS is holding a meeting with students at Rusnė boarding school and on November 13 at 330p.m. at Saugai children care home, to familiarise the children on the requirements for keeping and care of animals.
12 November, 2 p.m. Utena County SFVS is organising a meeting for pupils with veterinarian Irina Voitechovskaja on the topic "The doctor treats humans, the veterinarian treats mankind". The meeting will be arranged at Irina Voitechovskaja veterinary clinic.
13–14 November Ukmergė District SFVS is holding events in schools of the district to mark the European Veterinary Week.
12–14 November Biržai District SFVS is holding a meeting at the hall of Biržai Branch of Chamber of Commerce (at Janonio 2, Biržai) with animal keepers of the district to discuss the issues of milk quality, animal keeping, transport and identification.
13 November, 10 a.m. Vilnius County SFVS is giving a lecture to the students of the Agriculture Technology College on "From field to fork".
13 November, 1 p.m. Vilnius County SFVS is organising a meeting at Širvintos secondary school with a presentation "From field to fork".
13 November Panevėžys County SFVS is organising a meeting at Miežiškes municipality with animal keepers to discuss the issues of animal keeping and identification and of milk quality.
13 November Kretinga District SFVS is holding a meeting with senior students of Vydmantai secondary school to mark the European Veterinary Week.
13 November Klaipėda County SFVS is organising a meeting with private veterinarians on the topic "Animal health system of the European Union".
13 November at Utena County SFVS a meeting of county and district SFVS specialists will be held on the issues of effectiveness of veterinary control.
13 November a meeting of Utena County SFVS, Agricultural Department of Utena district municipality, private veterinarians and animal keepers will be held on the animal health strategy.
13 November, 3 p.m. Šiauliai County SFVS is organising a meeting with the pupils of Young Naturalists Centre of Šiauliai city, at which the pupils will be informed about care, treatment, welfare of animals and about veterinary studies.
13 November Jonava District SFVS is holding a meeting with pupils of Jonava primary school. Council member of Lithuanian Cinologist Association Stasys Jaramičius and veterinary inspector Zita Plukienė will be present, who will introduce the pupils to specifics of training dogs and to animal keeping and welfare.
13 November, 1 p.m. Kaišiadorys District SFVS is holding a discussion on the importance of animal registration and identification for prevention of contagious diseases. The establishments dealing with productivity control and farmers which perform identification and registration of own herds are invited to attend.
14 November 10, a.m. Šalčininkai District SFVS is holding a meeting with farmers and private veterinarians.
14 November In the hall of Rokiškis District SFVS a lecture will be given to the farmers of the district "Stimulation of good farming practice and animal welfare for prevention of risks for animal health".
14 November Anykščiai District SFVS is holding meetings with the pupils of J. Biliūno gymnasium, Kurkliai S. Kairys basic school, Traupis basic school on the topic "Take care of, love and do not torture".
14 November, 1 p.m. Šiauliai County SFVS is organising a meeting (at Šiauliai County SFVS based at Ragainės g. 80, Šiauliai) to mark the European Veterinary Week.
14 November, 11 a.m. Utena district municipality and Utena County SFVS are organising a discussion on the topic "Current issues of keeping, registration and transport of domestic animals“. The discussion will be held at Utena County SFVS.
During the European Veterinary Week the Utena County will offer free vaccination of pets against rabies.
14 November Jurbarkas District SFVS is holding, at Eržvilkas secondary and Girdžiai basic schools, meetings to mark the European Veterinary Week
Information has been also provided to the Embassies of the Republic of Lithuania to the Russian Federation, Byelorussia, Moldova Ukraine and Georgia.
Information leaflets have been distributed to the air companies FlyLAL and AirBaltic which hold flights to third countries from Lithuania.
Information on veterinary requirements has been announced; TV filler has been shown through information clips; leaflets have been distributed in three international airports of Lithuania - Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga.
On 10 November Information on the requirements was explained on national radio programme “Ryto garsai”;

On 10 November Short reportages were shown on News channels of all TVs of Lithuania.
