International food industry exhibition Riga Food, Riga
The 14th international food industry exhibition Riga Food 2009 gathered 528 participating companies from 36 countries. Attendance figures this year reached 32,150 visitors. The Prime Minister of Latvia Mr Valdis Dombrovskis, the Minister for Agriculture Mr Jānis Dūklavs, the Mayor of Riga City Mr Nils Ušakovs, the Director of Marketing Council Ms Ingūna Gulbe, the Director General of International Exhibition Company BT 1 Mr Viesturs Tīle and the Riga Food Project Manager Mr Rolands Nežborts addressed all participants and visitors of Riga Food 2009 during the opening ceremony. All speakers emphasised the significance of Riga Food in promoting the development of the food industry and furthering international cooperation.
Though mainly addressed to professionals, the presence of Latvian experts on the EU stand helped increase the crowds around the van. Essentially intrigued by the inflatable animals and the customized look of the van, many visitors stopped by to ask questions about the Roadshow and its objectives.
